One thing, though: That story is long--slightly over 17,000 words, so best not to wait until the last minute if anyone plans on reading it.

Ginga - thanks for choosing my story for chat this weekend. I'm surprised and flattered, in fact, I'm flattergasted.

Is anyone willing to switch their chat session for my February 10th slot? I'm working on a story but it's slow going and won't be ready by then. Anytime after the end of February would be great but if it's not feasible, I do have a back-up plan. Thanks!

I have some questions about certain aspects of the story that I'll solicit comments on during the chat session.

I'm going to make an effort to attend the chat tomorrow. I just read your attachments about this event, probably for the first time, and all I can say is, . Very curious to see what you want to say about this.

RosieAnnie, if your post above was directed to me, I have to say that I'm glad you're interested in my story but it's not the one being discussed tomorrow. It's Niekx's turn and she's discussing one of Maz's stories. Mine is scheduled for February 10th. Hope you can make it then! (And I'll try real hard to make it tomorrow.)

My apologies for busting out of there so quickly yesterday. Someone who shall remain nameless decided she wanted in NOW and put her forepaws through the storm door.

She is fine. The storm door is toast. Plexiglass panels vs 85 lbs of impatient German Shepherd is no contest.

Well, it's not even 11am (when I started writing this) and the blizzard has started! Actually, it's been snowing since early this morning but now it's coming down thick and heavy. An hour earlier than was forecast, so maybe it'll be even worse than expected. My area is supposed to get between 18 - 24 inches of snow, possibly more. And widespread power outages are also expected.

Which brings me to the point of this message: If I am not present at the chat session this Sunday, Feb 10th, it's because I don't have power and consequently have no internet service. So I am kindly requesting, if that is the case, that you please do NOT discuss my story, Egg Foo Yung. As I said in a previous post, I have specific questions I want to ask, plus I want to hear participants' general opinions about the story. I certainly hope to be able to attend--loss of power means loss of heat!--but if I can't, then I would appreciate it very much if you refrain from talking about my story until it's my turn again, at which time I'll offer it up then. Thank you!

And, in the meantime, and I didn't realize this when I selected the story, so it's very coincidental but very appropriate: Xin Nian Kuai Le!!! (That is: Happy New Year!) Spring Festival, aka Chinese New Year, starts this weekend!

Sorry for being MIA for two weeks, the hit and miss engine shows have started and that takes up most of my Saturdays and Sundays during the summer. I will try to make it next week, but if I'm unable to, please PM me with a summary of what went on.

Oh, that makes my day that my stories are still being read. I'll admit, it was one story I never intended to write a sequel. I like that people imagine different ways Kid might have met Daphne. Thank you for telling me!

I see moonshadow and Giddy Up are on the schedule for the near future. I'll give moonshadow a little nudge, but I believe Giddy Up is inactive. Has anyone heard from him?

Sorry I didn't make it to chat - hubby is working away again at the moment and is only home at weekends, so we were having family time.   If I'm feeling brave I will go and see what people said in the chat archives!  

I don't see WichitaRed, Claybank or radiogaga80 on the schedule.  Would one of you like to volunteer a story for August 18th? It can be one of your own, or a favorite story by another author.

I have not seen Missyblu or Shenango active on the board for some time so I imagine those dates will need to be filled with other writer's stories.

Good choice, BeeJay! Could be an interesting discussion since some of the traits of the boys most fanfics have are different in this story.

I have a few "I really liked" and a few "this didn't work for me" things.

Any history on the writer?

I am sorry to say, but I don't know much about the Ashton Press authors. There is a site called Fanlore that has short entries on the authors with the fandoms they have been involved in and their work. http://fanlore.org/wiki/Main_Page

I've always enjoyed the work on the Ashton Press site, and I think they inspired a great many others to try their hand at writing.

Among other works, Lynn Bowyer was one of the authors of "One More Last Chance," which an early hurt/comfort epic.

If I can get my internet connectivity issues straightened out, I'll join you all for chat today.

I read yesterday's story and thought I would look at what everyone thought in chat.
I could only find the last hour when the story discussion was over. Is this normal or just me?
