NEW chat time... NEW chat day!

So if EST = CA then EST = CET - 9 and CET - 1 = GMT.

Right?

 

Well, that means I'll be participating even less than I have been lately. I am almost always out doing things at that time on Saturdays. Sunday is my relaxing inside day! But for people who can make it on Saturdays--enjoy!

I feel such a dufus. EST can't be CA because it's Eastern Time, not West.  
I have to do the math again. EST + 6 = CET, so... chat starts at 5:30 pm for me. :)

Oh bummer for me. Things were settling down around here a little and I was hoping I would be able to join the chats again. Saturday just isn't going to work for me. Oh well, for those who can make it, enjoy!

We realize there is a problem in that no time will work for everyone. Changing the time will allow some people who couldn't make Sunday chat have the opportunity to chat.
We are considering a change every 6 months, although another alternative is rotating the day every few weeks or every other week.

I keep forgetting about the new chat time.  
Saturdays at 6 pm I am usually busy doing chores, having dinner - I think the old chat time on Sunday suits me better too.

I think we will end up rotating the chat time. I realize the people on the East don't like to break up their Saturdays midday, but on the West we run into that problem on Sundays.

However, people can enter chat anytime they wish, so another alternative is to make it sort of free-floating on the weekends with two specific times, one Saturday and one Sunday to discuss the topic of the weekend. You could always leave your comments in chat at other times if you can't make the set times.

If anybody has ideas that would work for people on both coasts and over the pond, leave 'em in this thread!

I wondered about one month Saturday chat and one month Sunday chat.

Did I miss a chat today? Sat. the 23rd?

I've been paying attention to the responses here. It looks like Sunday afternoon works best for story chat. I like Maz's idea of two chats a month. I am thinking two Sunday afternoon story chats a month. Unless folks want a story chat every Sunday? We seem to leave out a few Sundays for holidays as it is, so it won't be difficult to adjust the schedule for this. Leave a little feedback on that here before I finalize the schedule.

Saturday mornings could be something loose and open ended for those of us who have difficulty making the afternoon chats on Sunday. We could set a topic related to writing or ASJ for Saturdays.

We'll keep the current order that Penski went to so much trouble to create for us. That means Calico is still up first for a SUNDAY afternoon--which would be -arrrgh(have to look it up)- Sunday the 8th. I'll adjust that schedule and move everyone down if we settle on two story chats a month.

I think it would be nice to have a time on Sat and Sun when anyone around could drop in and hope to find someone else there.

We could still have a specific date for a specific story.

Whatever we decide it needs to be written in big writing with whistles and bells so people know where to find the schedule and when to turn up ('cos none of us are getting any younger and we forget stuff right?)

I agree, Maz. I was concerned that if faced with chat Sat and sun every week people might fill 'flooded,' with chat. But, what the heck, why not give it a try.

How about alternating: Every other Sunday for a specific story and in between on Saturdays, a more general chat.

BUT--what would the times be?  Would it stay as is, ie if on Saturday, the time would be 1pm Eastern and if going back to Sunday it would be 4pm Eastern?

I think whatever it ends up as, it should be as simple as possible so people remember--we need to re-establish a routine, methinks.  

Yes, whether we decide on Every week, Saturday and Sunday, or every other week, alternating Saturday and Sunday, the (official) times will remain as Saturday 12PM eastern time, Sunday 4 PM eastern.

Speaking of bright lights and whistles, can there there a moving chat line or something where the holiday message goes that says "CHAT - Saturday at 1:00 eastern"?

Also, wasn't the Saturday chat at noon instead of 1:00? 1:00 is okay. I'm just saying...

When is the Chat supposed to start?  Now that I've changed time zones, maybe the reason no one is there when I go in is because I have the wrong day and/or time.   It's been a while since I participated so maybe I'm not doing it at the correct time???

Sunday chat starts at 1:00pm pacific time.

I missed chat yesterday because of 48 folks at my house (20 of them kiddos) carving pumpkins. Phew! I meant to be online from 1-2, since the party started at 2pm, but lots of people came early.

Weeellllll, I've missed a lot of chats recently because of real life conflicting with the chat schedule. I was at a class Sunday-yes Sunday, that is when Loma Linda Dental School holds continuing education courses. It was all-day lecture and 'hands-on.' My patient didn't squeal much as I practiced gum surgery on it; pretty surprising considering it was a pig's jaw.
