| Hi All, Keays and I have been trying to figure out how to post some of the pictures from our visit together. Thanks to Ghislaine's help, I think we've got it. Below is a link to an online album. There are photos of the trail ride we took together as well as some random photos I've taken this summer that I thought would be fun to use in a story. Those of you who have read my story, Lindy, will recognize the photo of Ancient Puebloan handprints (Anasazi is no longer politically correct!). | These are terrific pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing how you two plan to break into the Merchants and Miners Bank and crack that safe! _________________ "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing badly."

| Thank you, Penski--the ladies are blushing, but you can't tell under their fur! You would call them pintos as I don't have papers on either one.
Harley is a ten year old mare, who is part Tennessee Walker, part mongrel and all cow pony. I bought her from a ranch here and she has punched cows, packed, been to hunting camp, and pretty much done it all.
Lakota is half Morgan, half Arab and was born and bred by the people I bought her from down the road from where I keep Harley. She has only ever trail ridden, but she is so safe and quiet that she was the perfect choice for my novice husband.
I'm glad everyone is enjoying the photos. I was thinking it might be fun to have a spot where we could share pictures. I thought that some of these might be used in stories or trigger someone's bunny.

| Is that Harley or Lakota you're riding in your avatar? _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry

| So would that small cabin tipping be what a line shack would look like? _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry

| I think that was an old homestead or miner's cabin. There were some old, busted up corrals nearby and it was sitting at the top of a heavily wooded rise along Engineer Pass. Usually, the old line shacks are located in areas with more grazing and are often surrounded with cattle pens which look really different from horse corrals.
The other cabin was in Capitol City which is a ghost town also along the Alpine Loop. This is a 4WD road that goes from Lake City over Cinnamon Pass to Animas Forks (a very well preserved ghost town) and then either south to Silverton or northwest to Ouray; or north east over Engineer Pass back to Lake City. We were driving the Lake City loop last Memorial Day when it first opened for the year. The passes are all over 12,000 feet so they have snow on them until early to mid-summer and it was very unusual for it to be open that early. We didn't have much of a winter last year. | |
