| I just came across this article about writing; it's a blog post that offers six tips for writing well from Steven Pinker, a Harvard professor known for his books about psychology and writing: http://www.bakadesuyo.com/2014/11/how-to-be-a-better-writerThere's a lot of common sense in what he says! | |

| Lots of common sense things that we don’t always follow.
Some of my favorite stories have lots of visual, but not too much to be boring, and great dialog that sound like Heyes and Curry. I so agree that using words that are not commonly known slow down a good read. While looking up a word in the dictionary to understand what the reader is getting at increases my vocabulary, it also lessens my love for the story.
ALWAYS have someone read your work! I even how someone read my challenges. When I don’t, it usually comes back to haunt me. So easy to miss a word or a quotation mark or think you’re getting your message across when you’re not.
I love his point “you don’t have to play by the rules, but try.” Sometimes grammar can bog down a story; however, poor grammar makes for a poor story.
I so agree with reading to learn how to better say something!
Thanks for sharing, Ghislaine! _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry
