So that caused me to Google the names.

There was also a Thaddeus Jones who was a Jazz trumpeter (Thad Jones) -- I wonder if that's where they got the name from, or maybe someone on the production team knew the family of the present Illinois representative?

As to Joshua Smith -- there's a college basketball player, recently transferred from UCLA to Georgetown (go Hoyas!); and an artist who's an adjunct professor of art somewhere. In addition to the flutist.

Careful - could be an alias! In my stories, I'm afraid some of "Joshua Smith"'s teachers get into a fair amount of trouble.

Helen, would you believe it - this kid (age 22) has an alias! Except Joshua Smith is his real name. But he is a professional actor and singer, so he uses his mother's maiden name as his professional name. There are an awful lot of folks out there named Smith!

And yes, Ghislaine, I did tell him there was an old TV show, where a character's name was Joshua Smith. He didn't seem too impressed. I was impressed when he told me that his favorite music is the swing era. He even sang a short song for us. And he was good!
