| Hello one and all, Please place some leftover sweeties – malteasers will be fine – in my bowl and I will deliver a poll for you.
We have nine – nice magical number there – Halloween stories for you to deliberate over.
The boys are setting off, neatly pressed – well, pressed anyhow – from Red’s place to give all you writers a cuddle and help out with any leftover mini flakes.
Thank you to everyone who popped on their fright wig and came out to play. Hugs.

| Well, Let me adjust my reading glasses carefully... We have a winner, only by a whisker, but a winner nonetheless (I have it on good authority - she ain't proud!). What a close run month to you all. Many thanks to everyone who spooked and spoke up for Halloween I know the boys were very grateful, because when they turned up on my doorstep this morning they were exhausted from the cuddle round of thank yous. Because... Ahem... The Calico is currently wearing the most buttercup of bandannies around her furry throat. (With a bell attached) Consider me purring like an engine. Thank you all for playing!!!! (Keep going! two more months and its ten years solid!!!) | |

| Excellent entry for the season, and a very special treat for those of us who missed your contributions. Some else remarked that they detected a sense of unease and a yearning for might have been from both sets of partners that went beyond the superficial and I went "That's it" the hint of something that I couldn't quite put my finger on when I read the story. Subtle and very well done. Enjoy the boys and the yellow bandanna, it was well deserved. | |

| Awwww thank you all. It was lovely to find time to play again.
To folk who asked:
The myth that seeing your doppelganger (or double) is bad luck is, I think, pretty lost in mists of time.
The stuff about it being a ghost of mistakes you never made - I just made all that guff up to fit the boys.
I had never heard of the Edgar Allen Poe story until I thought 'Oooh, I might do a doppelganger one'... but I slipped in Bill Wilson since it existed, and fished out a quote.
There IS a Ruth Rendell story 'The Double' which I've definitely read - so I was probably (ahem) channelling that from somewhere. There is nothing new under the sun, huh?
the ...
By the by ... I loved the 'Mischief Night gone wrong' story of the boys running away from Valparaiso. You can see them making mistakes about the best thing to do from a young teenagers POV ... but we reading it as adults think "No! don't pick that option!"
[PS - I loved ALL the stories obviously. I just mean the 'Mischief Night' one chimed with me. Not too cruel a Valparaiso. Our boys going the wrong way due to large doses of bad luck BUT not without contributing a few mistakes of their own. ] | |

| Congrats on bringing the Yellow Bandana home, must have been great to see the boys delivering it. I enjoyed the whole doppleganger twist of your tale, well done. But, here it is Dec. 1st and you will have to be sending them out to someone new soon. Congrats again on your winning. _________________ Wichita Red, "I'm not really a rebel, but I take chances.
