And the bandanny goes to...

Oooohhhhhhh....

It goes to a gal who is setting the scene of how our boys first met one of our favourite guest stars, the genial though venial Silky O' Sullivan blackjack

She is:

Wichita Red

Congratulations Wichita...

Of course, Red will have to wait until the boys have finished cuddling and thanking all the gals who game out to play when the games began...

Thank you all thankyou thankyou thankyou and, carry on writing!!!

Hello Ladies,

I want to thank you for the amazing votes of confidence in my writing skill. Really bolsters up the moral around here.

I also wanted to let y’all know the guys, finally, arrived. Apparently it had been a rough trip, because as I opened the front door they were grumbling between themselves. Something about Kid, not being able to read train tables, and if Heyes thought he was such a genius, he could read them next time. I would have more to report, except, they cut short their grousing, right quick, with some big, bodacious smiles.
They looked trail dirty and weary; I was just fixin’ to invite them in when my Mom pulled in with our four-horse trailer. I tried to distract them, but curious as they are, they wandered off the porch to see what type of stock had arrived. That right there was their undoing. My Mom is a force of nature, you could say. And, seeing to able bodied men standing and gawking, she smiled and informed them, “Unhitch your thumbs out of those belts and make yourselves useful.”

I can say, I had time to get dinner rustled up. Plenty of time, they unloaded the horses, lugged the tack, and were roped into feeding our herd of eight horses. (Which always seems to take three times as long, when my Mom is involved?) Anyhow by the time, they got back, I had mashed taters, garden corn on the cob and asparagus, and even threw some chocolate zucchini bread in the oven. But, most importantly steaks were heading for the grill.
I pointed them at the sink and soap, and then showed them how our kegorator worked. You should have seen their smiles, when they realized we had cold beer on tap. Gave me a momentary thought that it might not have been the best thing, to show a pair of, sometimes vagabond, ex-outlaws.  Also, let me warn you when they come to visit, all that talk about Kid putting a meal away is true. But, it has been grossly understated about Heyes; he can really tuck it away too.

They have been asking me dozens of questions about Wichita and I am hoping to find out what, the something bad was that happened to them last time they were here. But, when I asked, Kid looked sheepish and Heyes immediately steered the topic off on another tangent. Although apparently, they want to see the town as Heyes pulled out one of those lists, he likes to make. So, I compared his list to my schedule and I am going to have a busy time, I can really see that.

I think they are most excited about riding in our Fall Festival Parade on Saturday. It seems they have seen plenty of parades and never been in one. From the parade, Kiera and I are taking them to Old Cowtown Museum. I am hoping by that point, I will have Kid convinced we use blanks for a pretend gunfights. Each time the topic comes up; he looks at me like I am trying to pull the wool over his eyes, which sets Heyes to laughing.

I think it is, scratch that, I know it is going to be a fun-filled good time. And, each time, I speak to my husband, who is in Seattle on a work trip… he keeps saying, ‘don’t let ‘em leave, till I have a chance to meet ‘em.’  Little does he know, he may have to shove them out, as they both keep going on and on, about how wonderful the king size tempurpedic mattress is… of course the kegorator, which I have a gut feeling I am going to need to refill fairly soon.

Thanks for this fascinating (and very funny) account of what it's like to have the boys drop round!

Full of useful hints like make sure the freezer is very, very well-stocked. I'll be ready! They can drop in any time if they like!
