PostSubject: Can this happen?......posse lore   Tue Feb 09, 2016 8:38 am

If a posse came across a couple of drifters with fresh horses...would they have been able to insist or at least to imply that they could insist....that the drifters and their fresh mounts join the chase.

Also

Anyone know where I can read around the subject of "like a couple of Texas Rangers".... I'd love to bring them into a story but don't know enough.......OK anything.....about the movement. What they were for, where they roamed etc.

Any and all help welcome and much appreciated.

Cal

BTW....as I put a story into last months challenge.... am I right in thinking a brief visit to Wales is on the cards from the handsome duo?.....great timing its our saints day soon and all the choirs are looking for singers....I heard the gang in Blackwood were looking for new members.... Only men allowed choir ......pop that in YouTube.... I think the boys will fit right in.

A man couldn't be forced to take part in a posse, but it could be strongly suggested that if a drifter didn't become part of a posse it would be highly suspicious, and he may be considered to be abetting the criminal(s) or be a criminal himself.

You might want to try wikipedia for information on the Texas Rangers. I think there is at least one webpage about the rangers online as well.

Well, Blackwood is nearly the wild west - not quite west Wales but from what I know it can be wild! Shocked
I'm a fellow Welsh person Cal, so I'm allowed to say that! Very Happy brb

Cal,
The boys will visit Wales every time you are lovely enough to play in the challenge.
They like to cuddle the contestants personally on their circuitous bandanny delivery route.

Kid wants you to know he is practicing 'Lonesome Cowboy' for the choir and Heyes is flexing his plucking finger as I type.

I wanted to come up with a Western version of Men of Harlech - but I'm only sneaking a quick workplace type - so let me just throw ball to you...

Quick Western version of Men of Harlech - go!

PostSubject: Men of Devils Hole   Mon Feb 15, 2016 7:59 am

Can't resist a challenge Calico purr

Men of Devils Hole train

Men of Devils Hole ride to glory
Victory is hovin' o'er thee
The pay roll train runs right before ye
Hear ye not the Whistle!
All your dreams of larcenous wonder
Come true as Kyle blows the safe assunder
Let the explosions deaf'nin' thunder
Railroad owners appall.
Posses loudly chasing
O'er hill and valley racing
Till you split, and outwit
The sheriff by retracing
Your trail, and every trick assailing
to Devils Hole with heart unfailing
Till all the posses learn with quailing
The Hole will never yeild!

2thumbs

If they could just be word perfect by the first...I'll rehearse the rest of the gang....tell them to come as they are...I'm planning to get the rest of the gang in Stetsons and spurs! hatgun

PostSubject: Thanks for the help and the web sites   Tue Feb 23, 2016 8:16 am

Thanks for the help peoples thankyou

I've been doing some reading ....all good

The story ended up going a different way....isn't that typical....seems Heyes and Kids horses were a bit knac....tired...not fresh at all. and Heyes sent them off on a wild goose chase up to Devils Hole.

I had fun writing about a big Texan sheriff, and in my head at least he'd been a ranger and at a time when the rangers must have been sick of seeing action.  I got him so used to gun play he just knows how to handle himself with supreme confidence and take control.

If you want to see how it panned out its called "Den of Thieves" on the stories site....but a heads up....it got a bit wordy. reading ..in fact ran to two parts...but it is a complete story in itself.

Thanks for the help

Oh I Say!!!

I've only just looked back here.

Well done on the ditty Cal.

The question is - do all our gals over the pond get the rousing tune so they can picture our boys belting it out???

Fanfic gals now gird your garters...
Cal's ly-rics are just for starters
Time to plot for our law-outters...
Next month's stirrin' tale...
