Did you read a story awhile back and want to read it again, but you can only remember part of the plot? I’m embarrassed to say I have an Excel sheet on most of the stories out there (just a little obsessed, don’t you think?).
If you read a story about Heyes and a lighthouse, I could tell you the story is Lady of the Light by Terri Sutro and located at Kid and Heyes Literary Society.
If you remembered a story about Kid and a forest fire, I could remind you that it’s found in Virtual Season 4.10 and called Once More Into the Breach by Kate Ashe.
If I can’t help find the story, I’m sure someone else will be able to help you.
=======================
From Beejay:
This is great Penski. Thank you very much for doing this and providing the information. I need your help already. Well not for a URL; I need a title before I can write about my favorite Drena story. Which one is the story with the little old ladies that help Heyes and Kid escape from the posse? Heyes has been captured and the Kid is pretending to be a relative of one of the ladies. With 106 stories(really?) I don't fancy looking through them all to find it.
=======================
From Penski
That story would be Winter of Our Discontent by Drena Hill. It's winter and Kid arrives half frozen. The older ladies so enjoyed warming him up.
=======================
From Stella Ripple:
Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but would anyone happen to have any news about The Heyes and Curry story from the alias smith and jones fanfic site? I gather it was a group of writers doing a fantastic (insert fangirl gushing ) job, but it was left with the hint that the Valparaiso Years may follow- any idea if thats stil happening/up somewhere else?
=======================
From Max:
Hi Stella,
On behalf of everyone who contributed to the Heyes and Curry Story, big hugs, purrs, strokes and thank yous for the feedback.
I dropped you a PM too, but, (short answer) nope - you are not missing anything posted elsewhere, and, so far as I know, nothing on Valpairaso is imminent.
=======================
From nm131:
Max, Stella Ripple echoed my sentiments in regard to the Heyes and Curry Story. I, too, was wondering if Valpairaso Years was in the works. I am sorry to hear it is not. I am sure there are more than just the two of us that are interested and hopeful although I know it is alot to ask for. I just recently finished working my way through the entire series and appreciated the rich and varied stories, cast of characters and loving thought and effort the cooperative undertaking demonstrated. Even a story or two (or three, four...)added to existing timeline would be well received. Thanks again from a geedy reader.
=======================
From ndakkid:
There are at least 3 of us interested in the Valparaiso years. I couldn't wait for Mondays, so I could read the newest installment of the Heyes and Curry Story. I'd download them as soon as they were posted, then surreptitiously read them at work, every time I got a break. I hated when the series ended. Even though I knew how it had to end, I had become so invested in the characters that I found myself wishing that (even fictional) history could be rewritten.
=======================
From Ghislaine:
I've been told that there's a story where Kid is a priest. Do you know which one it is? Thanks.
=======================
From nm131:
Ghislaine, excuse me for butting in on Penski's turff but isn't that the one you just posted "Convict 20805". A very good story BTW (I like how you write then equally important in their own way). You do have Kid impersonating a priest.
Penski, is there another story where Kid impersonates a priest or God forbid actually finds religion, converts to Catholicism and becomes a priest? After all He is Irish, even though he's an orangeman. I'm of Irish descent (not orange but the green variety) and do have priests in the family. It would be funnny to think of the kind of priest Fr. Curry would make. I do know in the Zine "You, Me and the Governor" there are two stories where Kid had a much older sister who survived the border war raid because she was a nun in a convent. I think the stories were "Rain from Heaven, Part 1 and 2)
=======================
From Penski:
You're not butting in at all, nm131. This forum is for all to respond. I don't have all the fanfiction memorized YET.
In response to Ghislaine, I'm still wracking my brain about another story where Kid impersonates a priest besides her wonderful tale. I do remember Heyes posing as a priest in Drena Hill's Uncle Mac. You can find that story in Drena's site and it was also a Virtual Season 3.5 story.
And you're right, nm131, Kid has a surviving sister that is a nun in Rain from Heaven by Dawnwind found at kassidyrae.com/asj (warning--many, but not all, of the stories on this site are slash).
Does anyone else remember a story where Kid posed as a priest?
=======================
From Frankie:
There is a story where Kid dressed up as a priest. I think Rev Spencer is in it and they're trying to help Heyes in some way - Kid dyes his hair and there are children in it!!!!
You know, this getting old thing and loss of memory can be real frustrating sometimes! I'll do some thinking and research!
=======================
From Ghislaine:
Thanks, nm131, for your comments about my story. I was referring to a different story, though; I hadn't mentioned mine because, well, I didn't want to say anything about the plot of my story.
Frankie, I was hoping if I asked the question here, someone would come up with the answer! Looks like you've partially solved it yourself--thanks!
BTW, "Rain from Heaven" is great!
=======================
From nm131:
Sorry Ghilaine, I din't mean to give anything away about your story. I will have to learn to be more carefull in my posts.
Frankie jogged my memory it is one of the Virtual Season 4 stories on Alias & Jones Fanfic site titled "Make No Mistake" by Moonshadow. Kid impersonates a reverend not exactly a priest. The URL is http://www.pete-duel.com/VirtualSeason/VS4/Episodes/MakeNoMistake.htm
Again, I apolgize to you and all the readers who haven't had a chance yet to read your wonderful story.
=======================
From Ghislaine:
Don't worry about it, nm131! Actually, I thought it was kind of funny because I was trying not to say anything but obviously I wasn't clear enough. A good--dare I say: hard?--lesson to learn! It's okay, though--I think most everybody who reads these posts here has probably read the story and if they haven't, it's not going to spoil it at all. In fact, maybe it will pique their curiosity! So, no need to apologize!
Besides, I just reread moonshadow's story and am glad to have the answer to my question/puzzle solved. Thank you for helping me to find it!
=======================
From Penski:
Thanks for the information and exact location on Make No Mistake, nm131. I was guessing it was the story Frankie was referring to, but, unfortunately, I could not get on the Virtual Seasons website while at work to verify (website is blocked for some reason).
=======================
From Talma:
I'm another one interested in the Heyes & Curry story, I loved the stories, it wasn't exactly the way I'd worked out their backstory but was very close and many of them were really moving.
=======================
From Missyblu / Coronado:
I'm looking for the story written as a missing scene for "5th Victim". It was mentioned elsewhere on this board and the subject would be Heyes' recovery after he regains consciousness. I've read the one where the write describes the long delay in getting him back to the Carlsons but I didn't know there was another missing scene for this ep.
=======================
From Penski:
Promise it won’t deter you from posting your own story (no finger crossing allowed)? Missing scene stories are one of my favorites to read.
There are five missing scene stories from the Fifth Victim that I am aware of (what a coincidence – five stories for the 5th Victim). They are:
- Odin’s Missing Scene story, found in Alias Smith and Jones Fanfiction, has Heyes recouping.
- Surviving Helen by Denise V, found in Alias Smith and Jones Fanfiction, is a thriller with Helen, the saloon girl the Kid “visits”.
- Best Friends by Drena Hill, found in www.derbysulzers.com/aliassmithandjonesstories.htm, is Kid reminiscing to an unconscious Heyes.
- Independence by Drena Hill, found in same link as above, is about Heyes recovering. It’s a story between the Fifth Victim and Stage 7.
- Kate Ashe’s Missing Scene, found in Alias Smith and Jones Fanfiction, is why the doctor was delayed in seeing Heyes.
Enjoy reading!
=======================
From Missyblu / Coronado:
Penski,
Thanks so much for showing me where the 5th Victim missing scenes are. I liked them all and I think mine is different enough that nobody will think I stole their idea! I hope not, anyway.
=======================
From Caroline:
uhm... hate to say this, but i couldn't get the link to Drena's site to work. I figured out how to find her site through a much harder route. (Was beginning to think that, well, maybe the site was gone ) Don't know if it was just this computer or what, but wanted to let you know just in case anyone else has a problem.
=======================
From Caroline:
Do you have any idea where I can find the stories with Heyes being married to Laurie?
I may not have her name right, but they find her living in a run down, ramshackle cabin outside of whatever town they are in. She works in town. Along the storyline she gets attacked and Heyes rescues her and marries her.
There are at least two or three stories in the series.
I can't remember who the authoress is even.
Anyway, I loved the stories the first time I read them and want to re-read them...
=======================
From Penski:
Caroline -
One of the lovely writers on this forum wrote the Heyes and Laurie stores...Storm Richards. You can find the Laurie stories at Alias Smith and Jones Fanfiction site or
http://aliassmithandjonesfanfic.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=21&Itemid=67
There are several in the series: Small Falls, Jewels, Possee, A Different Heyes, and The Long Road (in that order).
Happy Reading!
=======================
From Caroline:
Many, many thanks for the info.
Now, I have another... do you know if Mick Pinkerton's story Banner of Loyalty is anywhere? I read it a few years ago and then wasn't able to find it again. Thanks again.
=======================
From Penski:
The only place I have found Mick Pinkerton's stories are at Kid and Heyes Literary Society at
http://www.derbysulzers.com/kidandheyesliterarysociety.htm
A Banner of Loyalty's link was not available, but her other four stories were available: And I Walk Through the Valley, Cheating the Devil, Preacher, and Texas Twist in Time. _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry

| I've been looking for a story that I can't remember the title too or who wrote it. All I can recall about it was that it talked about how Kid's quickness and Heyes' ability to plan and pull off the impossible was unnatural. It may have been an AU story, not sure. _________________ Come to the dark side.....we have cookies... | |

| Allegra wrote a cross-over story with Harry Potter where both outlaws abilities are described as unnatural. It was a challenge story and very good. Could a Harry Potter cross-over be the story on you mind? If you want to check it out, it is in the May 2010 Challenge stories over on Wetpaint. It is Allegra's second story, entry number 6. | |

| I am looking for a story where the Kid's sister is alive, and Heyes becomes romantically involved with her. Can't find it nor can I remember the title/author. Thanks for your help! Laureen |

| Laureen, I believe you're referring to the Shirley series of stories by S.J. Smith, which can be found at the Alias Smith and Jones fan fiction site. However, I just tried to go there and was stopped by my anti-virus, which says there's a Trojan on that site. You might want to wait at least few days until the administrator there can deal with it. |

| I'm looking for Moonshadow's "Make No Mistake" story. I tried the link on last year's chat schedule but it says not found. Anywhere else I can find it? Thanks. _________________ Come to the dark side.....we have cookies... | |

You know what Penski, if you have a copy, send it to me. moonshadow's computer fried, and she gave me permission to post her stories on the new story forum.

| hannaheyes, the story is posted at http://asjbuckshot.forumotion.com/You'll find it under moonshadow. It is posted in two parts. The blog format can be a little confusing at first, but both parts are there in entirety. I had to reformat it entirely as it lost the paragraphing and much of the spacing between words and quotation marks during the transfer. I hope I caught them all!(somehow I doubt it!!!!) Enjoy. It's a really great story, and a fun read. _________________ I read part of it all the way through. Samuel Goldwyn | |

| Once again, I find myself looking for a story I forgot the location of. The boys are running from a posse. Kid gets injured and tells Heyes to go on without him. When the posse arrives, Heyes appears and they beat him unconscious I think. Eventually, Kid gets sent on to prison, but Heyes stays behind because of his injuries. Heyes then arrives at prison, tells Kid his injuries were serious, and Kid gets out. He doesn't want to leave Heyes behind though. In the end, Kid manages to get Heyes amnesty and he gets released as well. _________________ Come to the dark side.....we have cookies... | |

| The plot sounds a lot like Lana Coombe's The Outlaws that Wouldn't Quit. Lana wrote 12 "chapters" and had them fit a year's worth of challenge themes - was truely amazing!
You can find it at the wetpaint site and, hopefully soon, at our new story site. _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry

| I was also thinking that the story description sounded a little bit like "Terms" by Nell McKeon, or that story that someone wrote...maybe Friscogirl? about Heyes going blind. _________________ Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.

| I received this private message from a guest who is looking for these stories:
Kid & Heyes separate, Kid goes to Calif., does boxing under the name O'Leary, gets beat up after losing a fight, ends up at Silky's. Heyes is looking for the people that injured Kid.
second story: Heyes was arrested, jailed in a dark cell, Kid breaks him out, Heyes thinks that is he is 9 years old and that Kid is his Uncle Shaun,(Kid's father) he also has a dark side. They travel to Kansas.
Can you help me find these stories
The second story is familiar. I think it was on The Pete Duel Site a few years ago. I don't believe I have ever read the first story. Does anyone know where these are located now? _________________ I read part of it all the way through. Samuel Goldwyn

| Don't know if this will help or not, but this link is for the archived portion of the Alias Smith and Jones Fanfic site. Some of the pages are more current than others; however, a number of author pages are there and some stories are reachable. At the very least, the author pages that are there can be perused for reference, and the story might be available. http://web.archive.org/web/20130518145607/http://aliassmithandjonesfanfic.com/ _________________ Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything. ~ Wyatt Earp

| Kid & Heyes separate, Kid goes to Calif., does boxing under the name O'Leary, gets beat up after losing a fight, ends up at Silky's. Heyes is looking for the people that injured Kid. The first story is called "Why Must We Make It So Hard?" by C.M. Crowther. Unfortunately, it was never completed.
Heyes was arrested, jailed in a dark cell, Kid breaks him out, Heyes thinks that is he is 9 years old and that Kid is his Uncle Shaun,(Kid's father) he also has a dark side. They travel to Kansas. The second story is called "Who's Afraid of the Dark" by S.J. Smith.
When I heard there was a chance of Alias Smith and Jones Fanfic website closing, I copied the majority of the stories and do have these two.
Thanks for the website archive link, Remuda! _________________ h "Do you ever get the feeling that nothing right is ever going to happen to us again?" - Kid Curry

| On the archive I can only link as far as the list of the author's stories. The stories themselves do not appear to be archived. Penski, can you e-mail me copies of the stories? Then I can send them on to our guest.
By the way, if any of you have contact with any of the writers who had their stories removed when the Pete Duel Site closed, please let them know I would be happy to post them on The Story Site if they send me copies. _________________ I read part of it all the way through. Samuel Goldwyn

| Try clicking on all the links on authors' pages on the Wayback site. Some of them do open to stories. I tried the link for me and several of my earliest stories can be read as well as the last, most recent one posted there.
I just checked SJ Smith's page there and the three most recent stories are available but not any others. Perhaps Wayback hasn't had the chance to archive the rest? I have no idea, but it's nice to know that that site isn't totally gone. In any case, I, too, copied all her stories (including the adult ones) so I have them as well.
Thanks, Remuda, for posting the link.
