Female Guest Stars

Now why did both guys fall madly in love with Grace Turner? I just watched the episode and really saw how greedy and self-centered she was. The only redeeming thing about her was getting the Kid out of jail. Must've been them looking at the outside (lust) and not on the inside. She was a beauty! Maybe the guys could appreciate her larcenous ways.

I rather like Grace!!

She lies, sure - like Heyes.
She is larcenous - you see where this might go...
She is self centred - ahem

She is clever and plans ahead - and spots chances to make money - ahem

She breaks Kid out when she doesn't have to ... so, she is selfish, (aren't we all!) but not heartless

AND

She takes being beaten with a good grace (pun!) I think she displays the 'Grudges are for folks with bad stomachs' stance.


The other gal I like is Leslie in The Root of it All... same kind of reasons

Alice in 'The legacy...;


Now, Alice and Grace have both starred in Calico VS episodes...But Leslie never has. Hmm. Engages brain. (Spots cup of tea, disengages brain!!)

I really liked Belle Jordan and Rachel Carson. I also liked Jenny and Louise from Everything Else You Can Steal.

Georgette irritated me so very much as did Leslie.

Favourite female guest star(s):
Alice from Legacy! I adore Joan Hackett. She had such great chemistry with Pete, not just here, but also in The Young Country. Also, Alice is one of my favourite female characters in ASJ. A woman who can look after herself, but in a way that seems believable for the time. She is clever, able to recognise an opportunity, shows kindness, has a bit of larceny in her and is able to adapt to changing situations.
Also really liked Jenny. What a woman. I admire her for taking her revenge. I love her for her relationship with the boys.
Lesley. Again, great chemistry with Pete. Oh, that scene at the water tower... As a character, I adored her larcenous tendencies and her cleverness. And her good taste in men. Ahem.
Julia from The Man who Murdered Himself. I liked that she was a believable 1880s woman. And, of course, her taste in men.

There were so many...
Clara from Return to Devil's Hole. I don't think there is anything I liked about either the actress or the character.
Annabelle from Boxcar. So annoying.
Sister Grace. What a wet hen.
Janet and mad Lorraine in How to Rob a Bank. Just Urgh.
Michelle in Journey from San Juan. For her singing.

I think I might include Clementine in my list of least favourite female characters. Blackmailing our boys? How dare she! And she is just careless and ruthless enough to get them into serious trouble and danger. No, they best stay far away from her.

Which one could I see with Heyes or the Kid?
Alice with Heyes. My wish-for dream team.
Heyes himself seemed quite taken with Julia. But I can't see a future for them, not really.
Lesley, maybe. For Heyes, of course.
Kid seemed most partial to Michelle. I could see him looking for her after amnesty. Hopefully he can keep her from singing!

I don't have a particular favourite female guest start, apart from perhaps Juliet Mills, but I think Clem would have been perfect for Heyes, just as scheming as he is. I don't see Kid with any of the female leads really.

Least favourite - Annabelle from Box Car 3. Didn't like the actress or the episode. It's one I always skipped over when watching the series.
