I was reading an article in a science magazine on how to solve difficulties in falling asleep. One suggestion I really liked was this:
http://justgetflux.com/It's free. It adjusts your computer screen's brightness for nighttime, so you don't have that bright glare in your face.
I like it because it is much easier on the eyes at night; it provides a softer lighting. It feels more relaxing to me, but it probably isn't for everyone.
According to the article, bright computer lighting later at night can disrupt natural brain patterns and make it more difficult to fall asleep. Two other suggestions were to get up and out of bed immediately on waking in the morning(no snooze buttons!), and exercising at least 4 hours before going to bed, which is two hours earlier than I have seen advised before in other articles.
I have a terrible time falling asleep, ever since I was a teen, so I tried everything they suggested. Amazingly, the suggestions worked.
