I cannot express how wonderful it is that things are soooooo quiet that it produced this little offering from you, Maz.      Had me tittering so much by the end my hubby averted his gaze from the rugby on the TV screen to give me a questioning glance  - briefly!

So the boys are finally leaving that room?  And headed across the pond?  Heyes might be planning on visiting a certain cat woman, but methinks a certain Ranch Days writer has something else in mind for Kid.  Love the digression about the skinny, umm, thin, err, however you describe them, hips.  But back to the main course.  Courgettes?  Hmm, just bought a bunch of them and they weren't French underwear.  Watch out, Kid!  Cute one, Maz!

I will have to see if an appropriate   response can be made by my alter ego.
(Like all cats, she is making most of the sun by lying around in it :hotness: , but maybe a brief tapping of paws could be managed while some dang game on telly converts her Tom into a distracted yelling heap tomorrow ???)

Oh my goodness the boys have figured out with Penski is up to. Sorry to hear they are abandoning you Maz but at least they know you well enough to know you were staying at home and they are honorable enough to try to stop the others for getting in trouble. Don't think they could swing by Kansas after the visit San Francisco do you? There ain't no way I can make it to San Francisco. since I'm not even allowed to drive right now not until I've recuperated so I sure could use a visit from some outlaws. Fun story that really gets the imagination flowing. And think it's all because we've all been too quiet as it only took that to get the guys out and motivated we could've planned this along time ago. Thanks for the giggles. Oh and images of slim hips.....

So did we say you're not bad, you're just put in that way.
Because you were very, very naughty and this little piece of course anything to get the boys to raise their eyebrows while flushing out those wonderful smile is always worthwhile.fun answer two Max's story and it sounds like you gave the guys the extra nudge they needed to head right on back to America. Enjoyed all of your tongue and cheek humor here. And you can bet I wasn't one of the snirkers. Hey, a gal laid up on her back with a knee fresh out of surgery can't be smirking anyone.

Bravo and well done too. Havel is too quiet and kids nosing through and through and knows exactly why he is quiet. But I love the way you take us on the midnight track with Hannibal and deep into his thoughts before kid arrives explains what is going on. We can only hope worthwhile advice he gave to his cousin was thinking because this quiet dark thoughts will turn to toxins and I think you wrote this tale exceptionally well illuminating all of this

So the boys're going to 'Frisco, too? Score! And learnin' y'all how to shoot? Cool. It's not too hard, but the fast draw might take a little more practice, although with the blond one time'll just stand still as ... Oh yeah, sorry, you're from the darker side. In any case, hope Kid's bush is unharmed. May the geraniums long bloom (my favorites!). Fun story, and have a fun time!

Maz: the boys are right. When the ladies are quiet, you know there's trouble brewing. San Francisco, Russians, codes, and some thing called courgettes which may really be underwear, for all I know. Nothing innocent can happen. Bunnies will be hopping soon. The boys had better lay low.

Calico: Alright. I really do have to look up the meaning of courgettes. Do crumpets really ooze butter? And let's not talk about various items that have yielded to gravity over the years, okay?

Inside Outlaw: You just knocked that out, just like that? Unfair! How can you put so much story in so few words? If I didn't enjoy your writing so much, I'd be jealous. Love the image of Heyes laying in the meadow with the deer ignoring him.

Little Bluestem: Poor Sheriff Blake. He's going to be famous, alright; famous for getting bamboozled by Heyes and Curry. And he was a little overconfident, too, which led to carelessness. I'd say he won't make this mistake again, but he'll probably be voted out of office. Well, at least he's got a peaceful night ahead to reflect on the errors of his ways.

Maz - A robbery!?  That IS hard to believe!  Although San Francisco, where there's a US Mint, and learning to shoot... I can see why the Kid thought that.  I won't tell him what else we have planned or he'll really jump to conclusions.  LOL... that cat woman!  A courgette is zucchini?!  Boy, is the Kid gonna be disappointed!  Very humorous.. laughed through it all!  Wish you were coming with the boys and that cat woman.

Calico, aka "that cat woman" (visions of Michelle Pfeiffer in that tight, left nothing to the imagination suit in my head) - Too many humorous lines in here to mention just a few.  Loved the innuendoes throughtout the challenge.  Now there's an idea... (writing down on get-together notes - hold the boys hostage like cra... like Lorraine).  YAY!!! You "convinced" them to come to California for the get-together!

Home after a  :hotsmiley: day at work.  Have a few minutes so can finish commenting.

Inside Outlaw - What a sober, quiet piece.  Loved following Heyes around Devil's Hole when he couldn't sleep and getting a visual of the place.  Heyes was fighting a powerful enemy and his partner, friend, and family had some amazing advice.  I hope the Kid got through to him.  Loved it!

Little Bluestem - Sheriff Owen Blake, you're a little too cocky and will be going down!  The sheriff is smart, but not too smart of a fellow.  Like how he brought the notorious outlaws in and how they made their escape.  Dang, you're gonna make the Heyesians mad by saying the Kid sings better than Heyes.  Personally, being bi-partner, I think both have wonderful singing voices.

RosieAnnie - I really enjoyed this glimpse in Thaddeus' family life. He's very much in character, even minus a partner. Boy, did he name his son appropriate - sounds like the Kid had a little Heyes in his own Joshua. Very good challenge!

Catching up on last month's stories and they were great!

Maz: I only hope this means you have another story brewing. What good samaritans our boys are!

WitchitaRed: Very, very clever and funny, too. I love them toying with the patrons and the way the Kid turns the tables on his verbose partner. Not only does he get to humiliate Heyes, but he gets free drinks, too.   

LittleBluestem: I love being in on Maggie's observations about our two favorite outlaws. No wonder she couldn't remain aloof. Very well-written. 

Ghislaine: Hmm...now I'm intrigued. I thought at first that this was a horse, not a human, and now you've got me completely buffaloed. I'm hoping there's more soon.

RosieAnnie: Terrific missing scene. So that's what happened to Grant and Gaines. Boy, they seem to be habitual victims of poor timing.

Remuda: Cager is drawing the Kid in and I wonder what will happen when Heyes is finally re-united with his partner. Thanks for the continuation.

Penski: Curt Clitterhouse certainly has been a nemesis for Heyes, but I am truly grateful for him leaving Heyes nekkid. My mind dances with visuals! Very clever and I'm looking forward to more.

LittleBluestem: Sheriff Blake has just learned how easy it is to underestimate Kid Curry and Hannibal Heyes. Hopefully, he won't be so cocky with his next prisoners.

RosieAnnie: You are the absolute master of homey tales. It's ironic that Thaddeus would have a son so like his former partner. What pleasure and bittersweet pain that must cause him. So very well done as always.

They cat tells me she’s not a-polling of her little tail – I mean tale.
Partly ‘cos it was just a bit of fun – but mainly ‘cos it was really wholly inspired by the Maz Meister’s original idea!

I see, Kid has woken all worried because HH is too dang quiet.
I am loving Kyle wooing the dynamite in his sleep.
Awwww – Heyes is fretting over the family memories. Sniffle.

4) LittleBluestem
Ooooh – were our boys singing away to cover escape sounds? And are they really in the cell or…? Holding my breath with poor old Sherriff Blake.
They were clinging to the ceiling??? Like spiderman. THAT is clever. Oh, there’s a bar across – lucky. And the singing was to cover the sounds … (just like the Great Escape.)

5) RosieAnnie
Ah! So with little Joshua you have the check the exact wording very carefully do you – like someone else we know, huh? She doesn’t know his past? Oooh – that’s going to lead to trouble Kid, or I don’t know the meaning of the words ‘plot revelation’.
Are we having an echo of the most famous clue ever … “I draw your attention to the curious incident of the dog in the night time.”
Double sniffle – I guess you already know I am a sucker for touching father and son scenes.
Now, of course Rosie’s story will not poll as she is already clad in a yellow bandanny.

Grace...so beautiful.   My thoughts are ever with you.

Remuda - I liked this challenge.  Sort of like the dissonance finally found its way into harmony.  Well written.    :swimming: 

Penski - I'm with the Kid.  Quiet is a good thing. I particularly liked this line:  “They’re forgetting all about us, Kid.”  Heyes nodded his head.  “Heck, the newest dime novels aren’t even about us.”

Oh, Grace how touching that was. (What an understated treasure Matthew is). Gentle hugs from us all.

Well, Kid – you know the saying: If life gives you lemons, toss ‘em back and demand cake! The trouble is, you see, I am so envious of sustained hot weather that I’m sitting here muttering ‘you should be so lucky’ at our hot, hot boys.
Ah hah! Heyes is at one with me! He is giving up on the plotting and they’re off to get wet. Let us mull on that for a moment.
Nice two hander, Remuda – even if they were out of the saddle this time. Purr.

Oh bless, I am loving HH feeling the mixed blessings of being forgotten. So good for his safety, but such a blow to that ego. We’re still writing fan fic ‘bout ya, Heyes – that beats Dime Novels! Another lovely two hander.

Sister Grace - What a sweet sad tale that I can, unfortunately, relate to. There's nothing like a mother's smell. Loved it! Hugs to you!

Remuda - I can so relate to heat and not being able to do much  :hotsmiley: .  The Kid had a great idea going to the creek for water, taking off his boots and taking a siesta.  Heyes finally had enough at the end, too.  Heat will do that to you - makes you lose your motivation.  Good challenge!
